Mountain Dew Haven - The History of Mountain Dew
The Pyramid Scandal!
Very few people actually know where the origins of Mountain Dew came from. As you can see below, the ancient Egyptian's first designs for pyramids were using odd cylinder shaped objects made out of a new metal called aluminum. Now the Egyptians didn't have the technology to make Mountain Dew itself, but this is definetely the roots of Dew.
(note: while the Egyptians did use this pyramid for a short amount of time, they later decided to go with the stone pyramid. What a shame.)
Creation!
Much, much later in time, a brilliant genius named William H. Jones was born. No one knew at the time, but William would later invent Mountain Dew. Jones worked for a small bottling corporation named Tip Corporation in Marion, VA. A Tennessee based company sent the Tip Corportation their recipe for an unsuccessful whiskey mix named Mountain Dew. Jones messed around with the recipe a bit and released it. This first Mountain Dew flopped miserably. So he tried again. This time it all worked. Perhaps he was inspired after studying the whole Egyptian Pyramid Scandal, but no one knows. Just who is this genius? What does he look like? Look below.
Changes!
The Mountain Dew bottle and can have progressed greatly over the years. First, Mountain Dew was only put into glass bottles. As time and technology advanced, Mountain Dew was soon bottled in aluminum cans, and latest of all, plastic bottles. All these containers have certain amounts of fluid capacity.
Cans | Holds 12 Fluid Ounces (355 mL) |
Small Bottles | Holds 20 Fluid Ounces (560 mL) |
Medium Bottles | Holds 1 Liter (36 oz)(1000 mL) |
Large Bottles | Holand 2 Liters (72 oz)(2000 mL) |
They bottles and cans have changed drastically also. Look below to see the progression of Mountain Dew containers. Even th pop itself changed. Diet Mountain Dew was added, as was Diet, Caffeine-Free Mountain Dew.
